Lupine No-Pull Harness ()

Product Description

Available in all our 1" Designer Patterns.

Perfect for use as a training tool, use a pull-and-RELEASE action, so that your pull turns the dog from the direction he’s going, towards you. Immediately, as he is redirected, release the pull, so the lead is slack. We have found that this tool works best with a 2’ or 4’ lead.

Use vocal praise when the dog looks at you with slack in the lead, reinforced if you wish, with a treat. Use a very small piece of some high-value food like cheese, hot dog, freeze-dried liver, whatever he loves, as long as its small. Your dog pulls you, you pull to redirect the dog, releasing the tension as soon as the dog has turned towards you, at which point you make sure he knows you think that’s the greatest thing he’s ever done. Be consistent in the redirect and use lots of praise.

The No-Pull harness does not keep the dog from pulling. It helps you convey that pulling is much less rewarding than not pulling. You should see some improvement pretty quickly. The time it takes to change a behavior greatly depends on how consistent you are. Well-exercised dogs learn faster than dogs with too much pent-up energy, but all dogs can learn to walk politely.

For very ‘reactive’ dogs, try practicing in the house where there are fewer distractions. Also, changing direction frequently keeps the dog thinking about you. Praise him for keeping up.

Collar and lead not included.

Lupine’s welded steel D-ring is rust resistant and designed to hold up to years of heavy use.

O-Rings - Rust resistant steel.

Made of the same high quality rust resistant, welded steel as our D-Ring. Used in our harnesses so that the webbing lays flat and provides the most comfort and best fit for your dog.

Stitching - Every fiber matters.

Lupine utilizes the bar tack commonly used in mountain climbing products where superior strength is crucial.

Webbing - Beautiful and long lasting.

Lupine webbing is of the highest quality jacquard nylon. Never printed or ribbon overlay and tested for color fastness, you can expect your Lupine webbing to withstand the rigors of time, your washing machine and of course, your dog and still look fabulous year after year!

Tri-Glide - Adjusting made easy.

The non-slip teeth molded into the nylon plastic tri-glide keeps the collar at the correct size even with the strongest of pullers.

  1. great for walking 5 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Sep 2015

I have a Labradoodle puppy who, as he grew, has become more difficult to walk. From the first time with this product, he has self corrected and now walks easily in heel position. There are other similar products but none that matches my beautiful lead and collar. I get comments in his color and lead all the time.

  2. works great! 5 Star Review

I have a 70+ lb husky mix. He used to pull me with the leash and regular harness. Since introducing and using the no-pull harness my dog walks by my side and does not pull me. Great product. I also love that it matches his collar and leash.

  3. No pull harness means NO PULL. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Aug 2015

For years I have been struggling with different types of restraints for my 60lb dog and nothing except the spike collar worked until now.

A simple pull on the leash stops the dog from trying to go her own way and stop at every bush and pole, I wish I had seen this one earlier, it also matches the leash which I have had for about 7 years now, which has been exchanged twice due to being chewed in half. Great company and great customer service!

  4. Didn't work with my goldens 3 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Jul 2015

I tried this on my 3 year old Golden Retriever, and she kept "stepping over" the leash when it pulled to the side, and the sliding clip that the leash attaches to would slide all the way down to when it meets the part that goes around the body, and it would get stuck and pull out tufts of fur. I finally gave up and had to return it. They are beautiful and strong, but it just didn't work for us.

  5. Our one year old lab loves it. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Jun 2015

Our one year old lab has a ton of energy. We wanted to avoid any device that put a strain on his neck and throat. We started with the gentle leader that goes over the muzzle and head. He hated it and would constantly roll in the grass trying to get it off. After several months we gave up and switched to the gentle leader harness. This worked good and Gus seemed to like it but after af few walks we noticed a bit of chaffing under his front leg where the harness rubbed. We did a detailed search on the internet looking for a similar harness that had some padding but no luck. We finally found the lupine site and their harness. I was impressed with the way the harness hooked to the collar. Having exhausted other options we ordered one. Gus loves this one and so do we. Be aware that no harness or leader stops the dog from pulling to the side. That comes with training. But the Lupine harness gives you better control without the chaffing due to the way it connects to the collar. I only wish Lupine made a red harness. Black labs look great in red.
